I made this recipe exact, only leaving out the olive because I don't care for them. One of the best 'tini recipes I've ever had.-24 Jul 2012

I love a good margarita, but discovered these here in my new hometown. This recipe is pretty close to what I've had out. Thank you Austinmomma!-16 Mar 2008

These were really good and easy to make. I did not have sweet and sour mixer so I just used JC margarita mix and they still tasted great. I kept the ice in my glass and added a straw.-20 Jul 2010

Tequini (Tequila-Martini)

Contemporary classics).

Tequini recipe - Recipes

Everyone knows the Margarita, that refreshing drink that can be made in so many ways, take on many personalities and the must have summer cocktail. The Margarita is one of the most popular cocktails in North America and shows no signs of slowing down. There are a number of variations to the Margarita, so you're sure to find one that is just right for you. There are three basic ways you can serve this cocktail: neat (as in this recipe), on the rocks, or frozen. The next question is, salt, sugar or nothing on the rim of your glass. The possibilities really are endless.

Dash of lemon or lime juice

Salt or sugar to rim the glass (optional)

1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.

3. If desired, salt the rim of a chilled margarita glass.

4. Pour contents, with ice, into the glass.

5. Garnish with the lime wedge.

Maraschino cherry for garnish

1. Pour the tequila and the orange juice into a highball glass with ice cubes.

4. Slowly pour the grenadine around the inside edge of the glass, it will sink and slowly rise to mix with the other ingredients naturally.

5. Garnish with the orange slice and cherry.

2 oz blanco or reposado tequila

6 oz fresh grapefruit soda

Salt for rimming (optional)

1. Rim a collins glass with salt.

2. Fill the glass with ice and add the tequila and lime juice.

3. Top it off with grapefruit soda.

3 parts Hornitos Plata Tequila

1. Pour the tequila, lemon juice, and sugar into a collins glass with ice cubes.

Dash of Angostura bitters

Olive or lemon twist for garnish

1. Pour the tequila, dry vermouth and bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

4. Garnish with an olive or lemon twist.

1 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur

1. Pour the Tequila into an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes.

3. Swirl the glass gently a few times to lightly mix the ingredients before serving.

Maraschino cherry for garnish

1. Pour the tequila into the glass of your choice.

2. Fill the glass with ice cubes.

3. Add the pineapple juice.

5. Top with blue curaçao and stir lightly again.

From personal experience, the first time I had a Bloody Maria I was astounded at the difference. Since that day, this has become my bloody drink of choice and I encourage all tomato drink fans to give this one a try to see what you think.

3 dashes Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp dijon mustard (optional)

Lemon and/or lime wedge for garnish

Cucumber and/or cocktail shrimp for garnish (optional)

1. Build the ingredients in a highball glass over ice cubes.

3. Mix well by rolling back and forth from one glass to another.

4. Garnish with the lemon and/or lime wedge and celery stalk.

1. Pour the ingredients into a blender.

3. Strain into a chilled sour glass.

1. Pour the tequila, cranberry juice, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker with 2. Ice cubes.

Tequini

For the optimum Tequila Martini experience, the occasion definitely calls for 100 percent agave tequila. For full-on agave flavor, a silver tequila is a great choice, and for a smoother tequini with additional richness, try an aged tequila.

Ingredients:

  • Dry Vermouth – 2 to 3 dashes
  • Angostura Bitters – a dash
  • Lemon Twist
  1. Stir the liquid ingredients with ice in a mixing glass.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Run the lemon peel around the rim, twist it over the drink and drop it in.
  4. Serve.

Viva Mexico

It's great to have an aperitif that fits the character of the food you are serving. And tequila goes well with spicy and bold food. So I find it really useful to have a tequila based aperitif in my repertoire. I think the original version of the Tequini provides a great contrast to Southern American cuisine or even some barbecue with bold and spicy flavors. My version is a bit more timid and probably better suited for mediterranian style food.

I'm looking forward to finding out more about this style of drinks. Next week I will try out a rum based aperitif, which should be a challenge as rum is rather sweet. If you like to find out what I can dig up, follow me on Twitter or subscribe. If you have any interesting aperitif recipes leave me a comment and I will check them out.
